Online Hypnotherapy — Sessions from the Comfort of Home

Hypnotherapy That Comes to You

Every treatment I offer at my Wilmslow practice is also available online, over a simple video call. Same conversation, same clinical techniques, same recordings to use between sessions — and the same fees. The only thing that changes is the chair you are sitting in.

I have been practising hypnotherapy for over thirty years, and every part of how I work translates fully to video. Whether you are ten minutes from Wilmslow or hundreds of miles away, distance no longer decides whether I can help.

Does Online Hypnotherapy Actually Work?

Yes. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of focused relaxation, and you reach it by following my voice, not by being in the same room as me. The state you reach at home is the same one you would reach in my therapy room.

The results follow the same pattern. Anxiety, phobias, insomnia, smoking, confidence, IBS — the conditions I treat respond to online work just as they do face to face, because the change happens in your subconscious mind, which travels with you. There is no difference in the effectiveness of online and in-person sessions — only in how easy they are to attend.

How Online Sessions Work

The technology is deliberately simple. We meet over a video call — Zoom, or whatever you find easiest. If you can manage a video call with family, you can manage this. You will need:

  • A phone, tablet or laptop with a camera
  • A quiet room where you will not be disturbed for the session
  • A comfortable chair or sofa where you can fully relax
  • Headphones if you prefer them (optional, but useful for the hypnosis itself)

The session runs exactly like an in-person appointment. We talk first — about how things have been, what we are working on that day — and then move into the therapeutic work: hypnotherapy, EFT, NLP, whatever combination your situation calls for. I can see and hear you throughout, and you can hear me guiding you, just as you would in my therapy room.

Afterwards, you receive the same recordings my in-person clients get, to reinforce the work between sessions. There is one small bonus to finishing at home: no drive back. You can keep the deeply relaxed state, make a cup of tea and let the session settle.

Is It Safe? What If Something Goes Wrong?

A common and sensible question. Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation — you are not unconscious, you cannot get "stuck", and you remain in control throughout. If the call dropped mid-session, you would either drift comfortably for a few moments and open your eyes, or simply become alert on your own — exactly as you would if you dozed off in an armchair. I always have your phone number to hand and reconnect immediately if technology misbehaves. Hypnotherapy is a gentle, safe therapeutic approach, and the online format takes nothing away from that.

In Person, Online, or Both

There is no need to choose once and forever. You can begin with a face-to-face session at my Wilmslow practice and continue online, work entirely by video from the first call, or switch week to week around work and family. The therapy is continuous whichever format you use, because the techniques, the recordings and the therapist are the same.

Some situations particularly suit online work:

  • When the condition itself makes travel hard — anxiety, agoraphobia, emetophobia, driving fears, chronic pain and fatigue
  • When your diary is the obstacle — busy professionals, parents of young children, carers, shift workers
  • When privacy matters — no waiting room, no car outside a therapy practice
  • When distance rules out visits — clients elsewhere in the UK or abroad
  • When life interrupts — illness in the house, childcare gaps, bad weather; the session goes ahead anyway

Fees for Online Sessions

Online sessions are priced identically to in-person appointments. Your initial consultation lasts 80–90 minutes and costs £88; follow-up sessions last around an hour and cost £75. All packages — including the six-session package, Smoking & Vaping and hypnobirthing programmes — are available online at the same prices. You can see full details on my fees page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online hypnotherapy as effective as in person?

Yes. Hypnosis depends on guided focus and relaxation, not physical proximity. There is no difference in effectiveness between online and in-person sessions — the techniques, and the results, are the same.

What do I need for an online session?

A device with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, a quiet room and a comfortable chair. That is genuinely all. I will send you the video link before each appointment — there is nothing to install beyond the video app itself.

What if I fall asleep or the connection drops?

If you drift very deep, my voice brings you back — the same as in the therapy room. If the connection drops, you would simply become alert naturally within moments, and I will call you straight back. Neither situation is harmful; hypnosis is just deep relaxation, and you are in control throughout.

Can children and teenagers have online sessions?

Teenagers usually take to video sessions extremely well. For younger children it depends on age and attention span — I will always give you an honest recommendation when we speak. A parent is welcome nearby in either format.

Do you see clients outside the UK?

Yes — online sessions work wherever you are. We simply agree a time that suits both time zones, and the sessions run exactly as they do for UK clients.

How do I book an online session?

Exactly the same way as an in-person one — call me on 07776 133247 or use the contact form. Just mention that you would like to work online, and I will send you everything you need.

Ready to Start — Wherever You Are?

If hypnotherapy has been on your mind but the journey, the diary or the condition itself has kept you from booking, online sessions remove the last excuse. You bring a comfortable chair; I bring over thirty years of experience down the line.

Call me on 07776 133247, or send me a message and mention you would like online sessions. And if you would rather visit in person, my practice at 40 Nursery Lane, Wilmslow is always here — the choice, week by week, is entirely yours.
