Terms and Conditions
Last updated: March 2026
These terms and conditions apply to all services provided by Karen Ashley Hypnotherapy (trading as Mind Power Hypnotherapy Cheshire). By booking a session with me, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
About the Practice
Karen Ashley Hypnotherapy is a sole-practitioner therapy practice based in Wilmslow, Cheshire. I offer hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), creative coaching and counselling for adults and children (from age 6).
I am registered with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), and the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR). I am professionally insured.
Sessions are available in person at my Wilmslow practice and online via video call.
Booking and Appointments
You can book an appointment by phone (07776 133247), email (karen@karenashley.co.uk), or through the contact form on my website. A booking is confirmed once you receive confirmation from me by phone, email or text message.
By confirming a booking, you agree to attend at the agreed date and time and to pay the applicable fee.
Cancellation Policy
I understand that plans can change. However, I do ask for reasonable notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
- 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or changes to appointments
- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged the full session fee
- Missed appointments without any notice (no-shows) will be charged the full session fee
If I need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time.
Fees and Payment
Session fees are as listed on the Fees page of this website. Fees may be updated from time to time, but you will always be told the price before booking.
- Payment is due at the time of your session, or in advance for session packages
- I accept payment by card, bank transfer, cash and PayPal
- Package prices are available for block bookings and must be paid in advance
- Package fees are non-refundable once sessions have commenced, though remaining sessions may be rescheduled
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late for your appointment, the session will still need to end at the scheduled time. The full fee applies regardless of late arrival. I am unable to extend sessions as this would affect other clients' appointments.
Confidentiality
All sessions are treated as strictly confidential. I am bound by the NCH Code of Ethics regarding client confidentiality.
There are limited exceptions where I may be required to break confidentiality:
- Safeguarding — where there is a serious risk of harm to you or to another person, particularly a child or vulnerable adult
- Legal requirement — where I am required to disclose information by law or court order
- Risk of harm — where I believe there is an immediate risk to your life or safety, or someone else's
If I ever need to break confidentiality, I will try to discuss this with you first wherever possible.
Scope of Practice
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. It is not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis or advice from your GP or other qualified healthcare professional.
- I do not diagnose medical conditions
- I do not advise you to stop taking any prescribed medication
- I always recommend that you consult your GP about any medical concerns before or during treatment
- Results vary from person to person, and I cannot guarantee specific outcomes
If you are currently receiving treatment from a doctor, psychiatrist or other healthcare professional, please let me know before we begin.
Client Responsibility
To get the most from your sessions, I ask that you:
- Disclose relevant information — please tell me about any medical conditions, medications, mental health diagnoses or other factors that may affect your treatment
- Be honest — the more open you are, the more effectively I can help you
- Follow any guidance — if I suggest exercises or techniques to practise between sessions, doing so will support your progress
- Attend sober — please do not attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs
For clients under 16, a parent or guardian must provide consent and may be required to be present during sessions.
Online Sessions
For online sessions:
- You are responsible for ensuring you have a private, quiet environment where you will not be disturbed
- You need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone
- Please test your technology before the session start time
- If technical issues prevent the session from going ahead, we will reschedule at no extra charge
- Online sessions are subject to the same cancellation policy as in-person sessions
Session Recordings
If I provide you with any audio recordings (for example, a personalised hypnosis recording), these are for your personal use only. You may not share, distribute, upload or sell them. The copyright remains with Karen Ashley Hypnotherapy.
Gift Vouchers
- Gift vouchers are non-refundable
- Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase
- Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash
- It is the responsibility of the voucher holder to book and attend sessions before the voucher expires
- Expired vouchers cannot be honoured or extended

- I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to disclose relevant medical or personal information
- I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the services I provide
- My total liability to you in connection with any claim shall not exceed the fees paid by you for the session or sessions giving rise to the claim
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law
